I Wish

i wish i had been there,
to see it happen.
wish i had seen it,
and been able to stop her.
There's so much i wish i could do,
but now...it wouldn't change the outcome anyways.
She'd gotten drunk that night
at a party with the others.
But unlike others, she walked home.
anouther kid, a lot worse of then her
speed through the intersection
she was crossing through.
They called me after the accedent,
told me everyhting that had happened
and i waisted no time
rushing to the hospital.
the docters don't know what to say,
and her mother wishes she could say so much more.
Her dads not in the room,
probably somewhere alone
where he can cry.
I keep looking at her
waiting pationtly for her to open her eyes
and say "got you!"
people keep telling me it'll never happen
but i know her too well.
she likes those kinds of jokes.
to scare you,
or just make you jump.
this is one of those rare times
i wish all it was is a joke.
I wish i had been there,
