Caitlyn

Caitlyn child conceived in my heart
I have to say goodbye
To the dream of you and I
You were once part of a family
That one day would be
But your smile I’ll never see.
In your eyes I’ll never look
And your voice I’ll never hear.

I had such High hopes for you,
You were the only daughter I ever wanted
I loved you from the minute your name was spoken
But your tiny body I will never hold in my arms,
I will never see you grow into a beautiful woman

Do understand that for my own sanity I have to let you go
I wish so many times that things could be different
But for some people many things just cannot be
So baby please don’t hate me for having to set the thought of you free
In my heart there always will be a special place reserved for you
I always dreamt you with blue eyes
Curly hair too
A smile so big it would brighten up the world

The beauty of you,
In my heart will always stay true,
You had the love of two mothers,
But the one could not choose this life,
Not for me or you
I love you
For ever and always I’ll do

  Goodbye.

wow..what a deep and meaningful poem.
as i was reading this i thought of someone who is unable to bear children, as TabbyJoy said..but at the same time someone who wants a child like Caitlyn.
    amazing write!!

Or maybe it's about a Woman who discovers that she is unable to bear children?

Are you speaking of giving up a child for adoption? Speaking of the adoptive mother and the birth mother? Or perhaps wanting to adopt, but not being allowed to because of a lesbian relationship? (the two mothers line). Maybe I'm way off on both tries. Interesting, emotional write though.

i can see why people would think this is about abortion but, personally, i kinda view it as though its written about someone who is unable to have children and the little girl Caitlyn is the daughter they always wanted and imagined and hoped for, but yet was never able to be conceieved. i think this too fits in with the idea that you had to let the thought of her go in order to keep your sanity, because if you held onto the idea of something you want but could never had you'd slowly lose your mind.
but yeah, thats just me. i found this to be a very deep and emotional write, and i congratulate you on ayour ability to incite such emotion in your readers, well done and thanks for sharing...good luck in the contest

No it's not about abortion. MAybe you should read it again and let me know if you get what it is about. If you don't I'll tell you. But it has nothing to do with abortion. Keep the first line in mind when you read the poem.
