to fred phelps
and all those at the westboro baptist church
because god loves you
and god loves fags too

my soul cried today
it cried because you are so hateful and angry
and I know god doesn’t want that for her people
i think of gandhi
the wise man

:i like your christ
i do not like your christians
they are so unlike your christ:

for god so

the world

that he gave his only son
that
    whosoever
believes in him
shall not perish
but shall have eternal life

my poor man…
i hope when you enter the pearly gates
and embrace matthew shepherd
you realize
that god is love

I like the theme of your poem and the feeling of love that it emanates. I especially liked the last part:

    my poor man…
i hope when you enter the pearly gates
    and embrace matthew shepherd
    you realize
    that god is love

I also liked how you emphasized the word LOVED in "for God so loved the world..." It really drove your point home.

    Great job!

A very touching subject espesally where it hits closer to home then I am comfortable.. And it hurts more to know that stuff like this happens but I expose myself to remember it is all reality and there is probally no escape.. It was ignorance like this that chased me away for so long from spirituality.. And I admit that even now I would be afraid to kiss a girl in public..

I have seen this site before and though it has been many years since I last been on it I have to say the site has made little improvements.. IT clouds the heart to remember what people do to other people..

Let us bow our heads now and remember our fallen brethran in a moment of silence in hopes to help them gain solitude on their premature journey..

(Want a song from the heart, Look up Scarecrow by Melissa Etheridge.. It is about issues just like this one..)

yeah, its sick...and its sad. and i feel really bad for those people because they're so angry, and life can't be terribly happy if your angry all the time.

but no fear...i would protect you (and everyone else) from them. because the thing is, love wins, not hate, and that's something we have that they don't.

::hugs:: i will look up the song on youtube. did she write it for matthew shepherd?

You would protect me?? Aww.. That's the nicest thing to say.. And yes Hate is not worth it.. Nor is anger or regret.. Anything negative is not worth the trouble.. As for whom she wrote the song for I am not sure.. I will do some reasearch.. But it's about gay hate crimes..

For my own experiance I have not had to suffer much though my brother Chris was run off the road because of his gay bumper stickers and I have had a simular event in the shaws parking lot where someone wrote FAGGOT in black marker over my own rainbow gay sticker.. And my sticker was not even bold just 7 dancing ladies in each color of teh rainbow.. But it's long been taken off now and replaced with a new one.. I refuse to let them win..

Is that website for real...? I mean... I'd really like to believe that's just some very extreme joke...
But that would just be ignorance, wouldn't it?
That is both sad and incredibly disturbing.

unfortunately, its very real. these people are so angry...they picket funerals of victims of hate crimes with signs that say "NAME is in Hell". They wrote a letter to matthew shepherds parents after his murder that blamed them for his "perversion" and even had an image of him on their website in flames with a countdown that said "Matthew Shepherd, in Hell for (insert number of months, days, hours, minutes)"
