Untrained Nurse

Shimmer of moonlight embraces her dreams,
as they drift away as the clock rings,
ritual of chores to fulfill
before the sun awakens
and into the real world
daily duties tend,
but unasked life
awaits her,
untrained
nurse.

He
slumbers
in his realm
as she prepares
anything he needs,
wakens him with a kiss
as he rises and one smile
bestows upon her, then forgets
who she once was, and she finishes
her nursing duties until she comes home.

    Well.

The disease makes fast learners of how to deal with it. I have full sympathy for both the patient and the family as I have worked with several patients in my job.

This is a very thoughtful poem, Alzheimer patients aren't the only victims of this disease, the care givers also suffer. You have captured it so well "unasked life awaits her". We weather the storms thrust upon us. I like the opening about the temporary escape of responsibilities through the dreams of our repose. Well Done!

So sad sis, but so true for many in this world, to care for someone with this is a heartwrenching thing. Done well as usual. Love, C
