The last night you'll ever spend alone
reveals more then ever expected
'Twas a dark and stormy night
when the child fell from the sky
covered in the innocence of the angels
The mystery child was a protected soul;
protected from evil by a force of unequaled power
It was clear to all
the coming of the child to their land
was an occurence of great moment,
that this unnamed child had a great destiny
A marvelous future still lay ahead
They kept the child secret, hidden
from those who would use the child for nefarious ends
The powers the child possessed were kept unknown to most
Those who knew, protected the child
They did not know why they were to protect the child,
only that they had to
Perhaps it was destiny,
that at the time the child came to them
they were being oppressed,
their land and lives had come under a dark shroud
A shroud that stank of hopelessness and despair
Did the child come to save them from their hell?
While the child grew,
the oppression only grew worse
The dictator, evil king
who had come from the very pits of hell
that had born only the most foul
and despicable of dark entities
He possessed great power
which was wielded most cruelly
Evil from time in memoriam
must go down
In a dream or vision we cannot say,
the child learned of the destiny
that was pre-written long ago
The child learned what had to be done
in order to vanquish the demon king
and restore light to the land
The child grew strong in magic and steel
Training constantly,
night and day to become strong enough
to survive the final fight and win
While the child studied and learned and trained,
the demon king ordered his minions and peons
to search in earnest for the one who will bring him down,
track that one person down, find them and kill
Those were the orders smelling of desperation
The day drew nearer and nearer,
the final confrontation came closer and closer.
Powers strong, brought to fruition
Skills in weaponry are high,
the weaponry itself forged by hands of good
The child that had fallen from the sky,
on a day that seemed now so far away,
was ready to meet with destiny

This is a really good poem. I like the fact that you didn't tell what happens to the kid. We get to figure it out. I really like your use of vocabulary. I really love that Skillet song. I like the inspiration you got from it.

well, i figured i'd leave it with a cliffhanger and open to everyone's imagination. i'm thinking about maybe writing a sequel, but i dunno, what do you think?

Oh, I love that song! Skillet's my favorite band, and I was amazed at what came out of that song and got transformed into this poem. Such magic is portrayed in your words! I love it!
