I wanted to capture your golden words
toying with verbs and investigating
the complexities of meaning
rearranging and rephrasing
to reassure my own thoughts
I wanted to print your words
reviewing and reframing
the calligraphy on the unsaturated paper
of my eager mind
to fulfill my own desires
I wanted to resend your words
the passionate promises
for you to reconsider
and to repeat
to shield me from desolution
But then I set your words free
white doves flying off in the night
white doves nesting in the mildness
of the muted Moon
to return to me as silver star-dust
