Inside
I’m bleeding-
Crying, dying-
Shouting, shrieking-
Slitting, killing-
Collapsing.
But I smile for them
Because it’s so much easier to put up that curtain
Than to let them in.
I keep my soul a secret,
In a vault,
Tucked away,
Caged,
Because prison is safe
And the world is rash,
Unpredictable,
Wild,
Unlike my tranquil jail-
My violent jail-
My house of horror-
But somehow it is better,
Controlled-
So I flee to the shelter of its
Monotonous wrath,
Anguish,
Find peace in its torturing seclusion,
Wrap myself in the comforting waves of agony,
Harmonic misery,
Dark serenity.
