The Calm

The dove descending breaks the air
to stir the silent mystic tone,
whispering over the river, I was aware
as these deeper thoughts, came home.

So true, and free the dove hung there
high above the wintry flight, and stone.
Imagining the feathered fowl, I stare
into veils of falling snow, to fly alone.

A mourning dove sings his lonely song
through the trees and peaceful feel,
I see the warmer springs of youth along
the lines of the river's lulling zeal.

This weathered bird, brings to my mind,
embracing love, God's fingerprints to find.

There is a spell binding sense of reflective calm that echos through the readers thoughts reading this. It shares with the reader yet another one of those quiet strolls we take and relish with you dear Poet. And I do so enjoy the constant weave in versed travels with you. Thank you for the shared stroll.

    Your poetical thoughts

... were lovely and the imagery contained within a reminder of how we must always keep an attentive mind!
Very nicely shared in form using the first line as the springboard for the rest. Good luck in the contest. joy

Interesting poem. Good rhyme scheme. And a lovely photograph. The first line is from Little Gidding, from Four Quartets by T.S. Eliot. I've provided a link to it, though I suppose it has to be on Oldpoetry as well.

Beautiful imagery and another gorgeous photo. The phrasing is this has a calm yet such captivating phrases. My favourite -
    'God's fingerprints to find.'

Love the flow - simple alliteration and just feel within this whole piece.
