The only thing about politics is the faces change.
These days the dirtier, the slicker and the meanest get elected.
But then these days it takes a son of a bitch to be the President.
Or maybe a bitch who has a son or not.
The point is the same, what we ask for we get.
There are those that inspire us for a time.
In my years I have seen them come and go.
One of them is the new Governor of New York.
However the last one failed miserably and it was his fault.
Somehow though it never fails that the whore who brought him down will still end up hooking for money.
Why do we pay attention to this sort of thing.
Because politics is like that, it has not changed since the
first King of Israel was put in place.
The people pleaded for a King, after having seen other governments.
The prophet replied that King would be the worst thing.
Give us a King and so they got a King that turned out badly.
New Americas said give us a President, and so they got a President.
At first it seemed okay, then Burr dueled with Hamilton.
That ended badly and it went on.
Give us a President, and we got a President, nobody is happy,
nobody is satisfied.
Truth is politics rule everything from a sewing circle to government even poetry.
So what do we do with the choices?
We just say okay let us all agree we don't like nobody and go out throw some beers back, maybe roast some marshmallows and then we all sing Kum By Yah.
Sounds good to me, at least without the politics.

Author notes
The more I see them arguing and catawauling over this and over that, the more disatisfied people are with the current choices, the more I think nobody should be on the ballot. But somebody will win and somebody will lose. Let us all hope it is not we the people.

Can we all just agree that we disagree but agree nobody is perfect.

Your first line is exactly right. The faces change but underneath the problems stay more or less the same, sure they may evolve slightly but the general ideas are always the same.
And I think its the dirtier, the slicker and the richest. Money talks after all.
Someone will indeed win, I just hope that whoever does has the ability to face the world in a new direction. I feel as if we are stagnant, the presidential cabinet is out for themselves, saying they do what is good for the world - I am not sure I will ever believe it...
at least until I finally see some good change.

Excellent write
And so full of wisdom. Sounded almost like Baxter Black another poet.
Good luck in the contest Judy. This is good.
