The bottom of the tree
Where they all go free
Take the hand that is offered
Shovel, pick, or axe
The knoll will ring tonight
Thoughts, voices, emotions
Drowned out under the searing heat
Water to dirt, dirt to blood
Last words to last breath
Thump no more the heart of lobe
Cry to those who no longer care
Black crows to the winter’s chill
Let loose all your emotions, rage out
Good bye infernal chill, steamed away
Death takes her next victim
Fight, Die, Live, Breathe, Sleep
The Death Knoll rings tonight.
Author notes
I wrote this when my dog died, about four months ago. She was my favorite, and I miss her terribly. The tittle is very special to me, for her name was Princess, and she always loved the sounds of bells and windchimes.
Please tell me what you think

I know how hard it can be to lose a pet! Some people just don't understand...but I do.
this had such a darkness, there was a mixture of emotions that I likes, it blended nicely
There was a nice rhythm and it kept it going so we kept reading. There were so many levels, I enjoyed delving in deeper into the meaning
the title is beautiful
Well done

I wasn't sure what this was about till I got to your author note. I am soooooo sorry hon. It is just like loosing your brother, sister or another loved one when you loose a pet

Yeah, It is a little confusing at first...I really did feel like I lost a best friend...She was ten years old and my first dog. Her breed was pomeranian and she was a tea-cup...so a really fluffy furbie that can bark. xD
