He's Listening, I Swear

Just a little rainbow
Sitting on the sun
Just a little rainbow
Viewed by only one
Just a little rainbow
Hanging in the sky
Just that little rainbow
Nearly made me cry

-----

It had finished raining
And everything was wet
I ran to the compost
To dump the yucky mess
A bowl of rotten fruit
Squelched inside my hands
And water squished inside my shoes
As I ran and ran

I made it to the pile
I threw away the 'ick'
(It's what I call the fruit
When it's old enough to stick)
It was a random thought
That hit me as I stood
Surrounded by the soaking grass
And wet and dripping wood.

I turned my gaze up to the sky,
Looked up at God and said,
"I'd like to see a rainbow, please,
"With blue and green and red."

I guess he heard my query,
My little-more-than-sigh,
For when I turned around I saw
A rainbow in the sky.

-----

You may say that the rainbow
Stood before I asked
You may say that the rainbow
Was there before I passed
But I know that the rainbow
Was made by Him for me
And that one little rainbow
Was a miracle to see.

Just a little rainbow
Sitting on the sun
Just a little rainbow
Viewed by only one
Just a little rainbow
Hanging in the sky
Just that little rainbow
Nearly made me cry

Author notes

It's a true story, like the preview says. I was running week-old fruit rinds out to my compost pile and asked God for a rainbow. It was a random, out-of-the-blue thought that hit me, but hit me it did, so I asked. And then I turned around to go inside and saw a rainbow...I actually did start crying. No lie.

It changed my life.

Can you say 'Faith'?

;)

Found mine. So, yeah, life-altering experience happening when I least expect it. Maybe yours will happen tomorrow?

Good luck! *winks*

My spiritual moments are boring. They usually happen when I read a cool bible verse, or in the shower when I think about random things. XP

Anyway, that was well done. I don't like the fact that the first and last stanza were the same; I think that a variation should have been used for the first stanza.

Other than that, I thought it was great. I like the way it flowed, and the rhyme scheme was consistent. Good job.

Yes, I believe you! No doubt! We all have our life-altering experiences in some form or another, some way or another, and this one belongs to you. This is a beautiful story. I love that's it's true.

The rainbow represents a promise and you saw that in action, with but a fleeting thought. Shows the power that is available to us, if we had but the faith to bring it forth.

Thank you for sharing your transformation with us. And best to you in the contest!
