To Blossom

From the garden of innate thought,
such blossomed emotions are taught.

Tilled from the soil of affection,
I seek the words of perfection.

The ground was fertile and fluent,
knowledge would soon be pursuant.
I sought the voice of expression,
I seek the words of perfection.

From seedling to flourishing rose
the beauty of poetry grows.
My quill inscribes an inflection,
I seek the words of perfection.

From the garden of innate thought,
I seek the words of perfection.

Author notes

Prompt: "A change in my life"; my poetic growth.

Kyrielle Sonnet:
A Kyrielle Sonnet consists of 14 lines (three rhyming quatrain stanzas and a non-rhyming couplet). Just like the traditional Kyrielle poem, the Kyrielle Sonnet also has a repeating line or phrase as a refrain (usually appearing as the last line of each stanza). Each line within the Kyrielle Sonnet consists of only eight syllables. French poetry forms have a tendency to link back to the beginning of the poem, so common practice is to use the first and last line of the first quatrain as the ending couplet. This would also re-enforce the refrain within the poem. Therefore, a good rhyming scheme
for a Kyrielle Sonnet would be:
AabB, ccbB, ddbB, AB -or- AbaB, cbcB, dbdB, AB.

A beautiful poem, and a joy to read, in a favourite form for both judges. In many ways spot on for theme, but although the poem is about the stunning growth in poetry of an amazing poet it didn't deal with the change that has made in life. So score less heavily for theme and content. Impossible to choose between third and fourth place poems, this takes the bronze on the quality of rhyme and flow.

    Bravo!!! Bravo!!! Bravo!!!

Amera, This was filled with so much inspiration that I ended up having to write a kyrielle sonnet myself. Your rhythm and rhyme are spot on as always and the subject is one of beauty, you and how you have grown through your poetry. I am so taken by this one. It flowed straight from the page to my heart and I absolutely love the background you chose for it. Thank you for sharing another of your masterpieces with all of us and best wishes in the contest with this write that is golden. Love you my friend, Joyce

Beautiful write, Amera. The title seemed metaphorical, as though are thoughts could be like flowers and can bloom. This is definitely one of my favorites by you. Best of luck in the contest.

Such a beautiful words and perfect flow...with such a complimenting background...it seems that you often find words of perfection in everything you write. You are surely the best I know!

You should publish a book, if you haven't begun that pursuit already. Then let me know where I can get it!

You're poetry is really beautiful Amera, you have such talent and there is so often a meaning and/or a lesson that you share, enlightening your readers, and that makes it even more wonderful.

This is a beautiful poem, I love that you put the form in the otes so that I can see what to do. And I love that you are nearly as new to poetry as me. If you started last year that would be about the same time I started reading it! If you got that good that quickly I feel I should keep trying.

You have found them! It is such a joy for me to sit in my front row seat and watch as you blossom into the star that you are becoming. Not only artistically, but personally and spiritually. This poem captures that essence for me. Thanks for writing and sharing it.
