The Seconds of My Life

Silence, apart from the clock.
It ticks over and over, taunting me.
Stealing the seconds of my life.
One,by one, by one.

I stare at the hands, transfixed.
Not quite sure what I'm hoping to achieve.
But the clock doesn't care.
It just continues with it's agravating ticking.

Second after second, minute after minute.
I suddenly realise how much of my life I've just wasted.
I've let time slip away through my fingers.
Careless.

I'm so absorbed in my own silly thoughts
that I don't notice the hands suddenly stop.
I look at my watch.
The clock on the wall stopped hours ago.

Just like that.
The time disappeared.
Gone forever are those precious
seconds of my life.
