If i could buy a dream.

Can I buy a dream of good times

and sleep forever more

can I close all these windows

and lock all my doors.

 

Reality is a nightmare

we live everyday

I just want to buy a dream

and make it go away.

 

Can I have that one...

when love was all around

in this recuring nightmare

smiles are never found.

 

I don't want materialistic dreams

of flashy cars and great wealth

I am of the humble kind

so i'll settle for my health.

 

So I think i'll take that free dream

with an angel by my side

Where he'll show me peace and tranquillity

and through this nightmare he will guide.

It's one of those poems that we must disect and understand.
I found the metaphor interesting and love the emotion in it.

    I read this piece at work and now again at home and I love every word of your poem. The rhyming flows so naturally that you do not notice it at all. It is a flawless piece of poetry that I can really relate too in a very special way.

    Very tranquil

    A wish I'm sure others have had as well. There are days I do not want to wake up & ruin the sleep & dreams I am having. Could be the child inside of me.

    Great!

    This is the sort of poem that deserves to be read slowly to savour its delightful imagery that creeps up on you as the lines roll past. rather like a fine wine but, unlike a wine, this can be savoured repeatedly with only the intoxication of warm feelings.
    A good entry into the competition and I see you have pasted your quote in the notes. Thank you.
    Just to round things off could you check line 19 (4th Stanza 3rd line). I think it should be of not off.
