the divine idol
given all to obtain
cannot watch fall
take in the pain
though twisted blade burries deep
happiness does creep
watching the unfettered flower
untainted by dark power
damned to the shadow you creep
knowing in your heart so deep
acts done can never remain
your own life cannont retain
mortal rivers overflow
the banks that try to hold
though your spirit passes on
serene your last face
your heaven unbound
as your angel leaves the unholy place.
Author notes
Not my best I think, but let's see how well a deliberate write came out.

Interesting take on the prompt given to inspire writers in this contest. Liked the flow, the brevity of the lines and the sentiments expressed here. Deep and dark.
