Illusions

Illusions illusions everywhere
Fake smiles lying here and there
Everyone is selfish
But say that they do care.

I spread my arms for some warmth
But just cold air fills my lungs
I open my eyes for some love
But all I get is illusions.

Water changes color with sky
Flowers smell to attract
Even butterflies lose their colors when they die.

Are they too wearing masks
Or are these just illusions
Are we living for real
Or is life just another illusion?

Author notes

Is life really what it actually looks like?
Or are we leaving in the world of illusions?

This is great! I love the questions
that you asked in here. Sometimes life
has a funny way of presenting itself to us.
We can only hope that what we see in our
lives aren't always illusions. Things can
get pretty complicated very quickly when such
    things happen.

Beautiful work here and thanks a lot for entering
this into my contest. I appreciate it and wish
you the best of luck with it here!

WOW!!! This one is great. Super-powerful. I believe we have all felt this at some pt or another, for me it was last year. Anyway I hope that things get better for you. I love the comparisons, you raise a very important question here. The sense of melancholy conveyed through your words is moving. One thing you might want to look at--in the 2nd to last line, you say 'are we leaving for real.' do you mean living?
Best of luck in the contest,
    Shannon
