I have a hero.
He defends my heart
from pirates hungry
for treasures inside.
Soil of this homeland
keeps arms wide open
waiting
and hoping
for return of my hero.
Praise is not strong enough
to express the thanks I feel.
I.O.U.
I know he'll walk through Hell for me.
Making sure his wife is safe
and families can live untroubled
in the tranquil green fields.

beautiful! lovely and sad. my youngest son has been in Iraq almost 4 months now and it doesn't seem to even be a dent in the 15 he is to do over there. I hope your soldier returns as does my son and all our precious heroes over there.

Beautiful
I really loved the flow of this poem, and the honesty of it. I loved the title of it as well...(I guess I really am a romantic at heart) and loved the way that it is off to the right side. Makes it seem more unique I guess. Anyway, really well done.
Good Luck and God Bless
