Not Going to Miss You Out Loud

Waltzing with the world

With a smile that's locked in place

While inside I am drowning

In memories I can’t erase

A brilliant new horizon

With silver, heart-shaped clouds

My silence is fool’s-golden

I’m not going to miss you out loud

It would be so easy

If I could hate you like I ought

Hope my pain was proper payment

For the vengeance that you sought

Despite it all I care

Though I know it’s not allowed

Parental lock my heart on mute

I’m not going to miss you out loud

The world’s a jaded backdrop

For a discontented crowd

My microphone must stay broken

I’m not going to miss you out loud

Author notes

Sometimes it's hard to let go...especially when there are good times stirred in with the bad.

    Heart-Felt

    Hello there Kimberly!

I’m glad I came along and clicked on your poem. It made me feel sad.

Thanks for sharing this poem with us. I liked the poetic devices you used; I think your poem contains metaphoric resonance.

    Have an awesome day,

It's really hard to reach a decision. While words may say it but the heart may keep it. Beautiful piece.
