She sits there,
Not able to hold her own,
As her emotions share,
What words could not do alone.
She sits here,
Wondering what to say,
As the end nears,
She feels herself slipping away.
She sits silently,
Knowing you won't listen,
As she quietly,
Begs for recognition.
She sits in the darkness,
Hiding from their eyes,
As her sadness,
Could be heard in whispered cries.
She sits in her best,
Knowing she can't win,
As the real test,
Is about to begin.
Not able to hold her own,
As her emotions share,
What words could not do alone.
She sits here,
Wondering what to say,
As the end nears,
She feels herself slipping away.
She sits silently,
Knowing you won't listen,
As she quietly,
Begs for recognition.
She sits in the darkness,
Hiding from their eyes,
As her sadness,
Could be heard in whispered cries.
She sits in her best,
Knowing she can't win,
As the real test,
Is about to begin.
Author notes
So, I wrote this after my Math A Regents. I was bored and had time to spare. Funny thing is, I was really happy when I wrote this, so it's kind of ironic that I was spouting out depressing poetry.

It is a bit ironic that you wrote this when you were happy. Nonetheless, it is a beautiful poem. I look forward to reading more of your work..

very nice! I liked it alot!
I really liked how sad and hopeless it feels. the words work so well together.. and I like how it rhymes without losing it's flow. I know that I suck at rhyming poems.. so I love reading them.

The best dark poetry is written when the poet is in control; that way she can let herself down into the place where the deepest hurt lies, but have a rope to haul herself out again. Poetry written from depression can be self-indulgent and peevish (been there, done that!). This one is pretty good.
