This Love Is Eternal

Silhouetted against the vastness of time,

are the written sentiments of many hearts

proclaiming their passionate devotion.”

Should I depart from this life before

you into God’s dear bosom, I'd implore

To be promptly returned to your embrace,

For it is your affections that comfort me

Affecting this tender heart most relevantly

As in my dreams I covet your sweet face,

And I know beyond a doubt that I would

Fight the devil himself and in fact could

Defeat him with a most powerful rage,

And my love for you dear would transcend

The very fabric of time, with no tiring end

As adoringly, I followed you age after age.

  • Beautifully mastered here, in a way that only a true poet could do. I like the quotation before the poem too, it gave a real feel to the topic at large. Adored the ending lines, as well.

timeless love that endures even death itself. fantastic, written in such a charming manner, reminds me of classic poems i used to read when i was trying to learn about poetry. the kinds of poems i devoured, one after another, that lead me to this kind of insatiable passion for the written word. very well done, thanks for reminding me where i came from. take care, now

Beautiful! Oh to have such a love...
