Parading her in morality's chains
made him a partner
in society's honourable bed.
Her virtue and perfection
gave him the almighty, iron rod
of power.
Yet when alone
with his naked, steely thoughts,
she was purely a dalliance
to sate his voracious appetite.
Her sincerity
was of no consequence.
