She kick starts the day with her caffeine fix,
bleary eyes clear, as sparkle takes over.
Stepping into a new day in perfected coiffure,
no one knows her turmoils of suffocating nights.
Espresso moments on the run as she strides in false confidence,
her celestial smile placed like a crown upon all she meets.
Pampered and fussed like a divine queen,
in sylphlike movements she floats down the catwalk.
Celebrated as heavenly being in this cutthroat world of facades,
stimulants driven by heavenly umber silks.
Mocha eyes momentarily cloud as the child skips backwards in time
to rose gardens and wisteria scented vines under grandma's porch.
As tears for the past threaten her demeanour,
she downs a latte of regrets, bestowing a divine curve of lips
that don't quite reach her eyes.
