Truth Or Dare (Ch. 15: Fly on the Wall)

Chapter 15: Fly On The Wall

My eyes became slits of anger as I looked at the girly room.  Things were strewn everywhere over the white carpet.  It was obvious that someone had been there.  I had simply one guess of who it was.
All of my things were spread about the room.  I checked to see if anything was missing.  My guess was that Lauren was in there, but did she take anything?  And if she took something, what was it and why?  What was she in there looking for?
I looked through my things for about thirty minutes before I convinced myself that nothing had been taken.  Anger still flowed through my veins, though, and I had to talk to someone that knew how to calm me down.  I had to try to get my mind off of the room invasion.
“Hello?” answered Jayden.  I had self consciously dialed his number.  I was obviously comfortable talking to him.
“Hey.  Is Craig home yet?” I asked.  Maybe if Craig were there, Jayden could has him guy-to-guy what was going on.  He could get dirt for me.
“He came in for a few moments, but he left again almost instantly.  Why?”  Jayden was obviously curious at why I wanted to know his brother’s whereabouts at 9:30pm on a Thursday night.
“I got up to my room after you left, and it’s obvious that someone has gone through my things.  The place is completely trashed,” I explained, checking some more to make sure I didn’t skip over anything, but everything was still there.
“And you think it was Craig?”
“No… I think it was Lauren, but I have a feeling Craig might have helped,” I said, trying to think logically.
“Oh I see what you mean.  Is anything missing?” he asked, his voice full of hope that nothing was gone.
“No.  I’ve checked twice and everything is still here.  That’s what’s confusing me,” I told him, still trying desperately to figure out what was going on.  Did Lauren already know what I told her mom?  Was she fighting back?  Did she have a plan?  If so, what was it?
“What do you mean?” Jayden asked confused.
“I mean… wouldn’t they take something if they were going through my stuff like that?” I clarified.  It made no sense to me.  Were they looking for something to blackmail me with?
“Oh that makes sense.  What do you think they were looking for?”
“I don’t know.  Blackmail?  A hostage?  Anything that they could hold against me and possibly use to hurt me.”
“And you’re sure that everything is still there?” he asked again.  Jayden wanted to figure this out as much as I did.  They were out to get him as well.
“Positive.  Maybe Lauren found out about the story I told her mom, and she was just looking for something she could hold against me as revenge,” I said semi-conclusively.
“And they found nothing so they left it messed up in order to scare you.”
“Yea,” I said, now less angry than before.  Jayden knew how to calm me down, or at least help me figure this out.
“Are you okay?”
“I’m fine now.  See you tomorrow.”
“Bye.”
We hung up the phone, and I picked up my stuff and put it in the drawers.  I was still confused at why Lauren was in my room, but I refused to let her get to me with small things like that.  If she wanted to scare me should would have to do so much better than messing up my stuff.
Once my stuff was put away, and I had checked yet again during the process to make sure everything was still there, I changed into the pair of Victoria’s Secret pajamas that Sarah had bough me awhile back.  I looked in the mirror to see my reflection and how I looked in the never before worn purple pajamas.  After deciding that I didn’t look too horrible, I climbed into the fluffy queen-sized bed.
Sleep came easily that night, and I welcomed it exhaustedly.  I was hoping that I would have a dream that would tell me answers, or at least give me clues about why Lauren was in my room.  My dreams seemed to estimate something to a certain point, like with Jayden, and I hoped to have one that might do the same.
I closed my eyes and suddenly weird things were occurring around me.  Butterflies were blowing bubbles with little pink and purple wands, and bees were playing hide-and-go-seek in the flowers and grass.  The strange thing, though, was that I was the same size as them, and I wasn’t on the ground.  I looked down and saw that I was no longer a person, but a fly.  A fly with winds, a fuzzy little body, and tiny legs.  It was interesting, but weird.
I flew around to see where I was.  As I floated through the air, my mind worked with the multiple views of my eyes to interpret my surroundings.  It was then that I recognized the people inside the window.  I was at Jayden’s house, and Lauren and Craig were in the nicely decorated den that I had sat in earlier that night with Jayden.
My wings flapped quicker, holding me steadily in the air as I searched for a way to enter the room and hear what they were saying.  I kept looking and got lucky.  Scarlett gracefully exited the house at that time, keys in hand.  It was my chance to get inside, so I flew as quickly as I possibly could.  Just as the door was being shut, I slipped through the open crack and into the house.
I breathed a sigh of relief after getting in so easily.  The buzzing sound I made with my wings as I stayed in the air seemed to be blaring, and I started to panic, worried that Craig and Lauren would hear it.  But then I realized the sound would be quiet to them, almost like nothing.  They wouldn’t even notice it.
With that in mind, I moved from the entry way and into the den where I settled myself on the wall closest to them.  I sat upon the white wall, next to a picture of Jayden’s family at the beach when he was younger.
“I found nothing,” Lauren said, placing her hands on her small curvy hips.
“How could you not find anything?” Craig snapped, an angry look spreading across his face.
“She has nothing to hide,” she said exasperated, a sigh escaping her freshly lip glossed lips.
“That girl has to hide something, she isn’t perfect!” Craig yelled, angrily extending his muscular arms out to his sides.
“If you’re so damn convinced that she’s hiding something, you find it!” Lauren screamed, stepping closer to Craig’s tall, bulky body.
“Maybe I will!” he replied, pulling her to him with force.  Lauren seemed shocked at his force.
Lauren glared as Craig held her shoulders tightly.  “Why do you even like her?” Lauren asked as the glare on her face became a slight frown in merely a second.
“Why do you like Jayden?” he repeated her question, no longer angry.  Craig looked hurt, I could see it in him brown eyes.
“I-I…” Lauren stuttered.  She was unable to answer his question and looked down.
“That’s what I thought,” Craig said, his eyes never leaving her.  The look on his face was careful and nervous.
“But… Craig… I…”  She didn’t know what to say to him, and decided not to continue.
The tight grip Craig held on Lauren’s shoulders was released.  Lauren didn’t look up, though, and I saw a tear drip from her eye.  What was she so upset about?  I didn’t get it.
“Hey…” Craig started but changed his mind and didn’t speak any further.  He grabbed her chin carefully and lifted her face up so that Lauren was looking him in the eye, leaned in to her, and touched his lips to hers.  Lauren seemed nervous at first, but loosened up and wrapped her arms tightly around him.
Then the room disappeared and I awoke in the pink queen-sized bed with the sun shining brightly through the small window.  Maybe the dream would be true, but how could I tell?  It was time to investigate.  I would play detective; I would figure it out.

Awesome work, hun! Only one spelling error - in your description of Brie the fly, you wrote "winds" instead of "wings". But not really important in the grand scheme of things. Great chapter as always! Keep them coming!
