Hidden beneath the flesh and blood,
a mystery to unfold;
remains a glimpse of secret hope
waiting brave and bold.
Like caverned ice - cold and hard,
eager for the melt;
a soul waits for the new dawn rise,
for warmth to be felt.
And when that warmth comes crashing in,
to tides of unknown depth;
releasing all the darkness out
held in freedom's breath.
I'd draw in one final spark of air
to know what is true.
Hidden beneath the flesh and blood
are longings to pursue.
