Oh, how I careen
At every twist and turn
Your fancies employ!
An element of surprise,
In a conglomerate of ordinary.
Drive on, drive on,
Out into the night,
Way past early morning light.
Swerving left, right....
STOP!
Slow now, then racing.
Through the straightaway,
Carry me away!
Way past worry and thought.
Oh, how you're passionate
In you lack-luster love.
Drive on, drive on.
At every twist and turn
Your fancies employ!
An element of surprise,
In a conglomerate of ordinary.
Drive on, drive on,
Out into the night,
Way past early morning light.
Swerving left, right....
STOP!
Slow now, then racing.
Through the straightaway,
Carry me away!
Way past worry and thought.
Oh, how you're passionate
In you lack-luster love.
Drive on, drive on.
Author notes
Well, I'm hoping that the last lines give a hint into the ture meaning of the words of this poem. It's obviously not about driving down the road .....lack-luster love? well....take that as you wish

I did the same lol
I was writing this poem as free verse, or at least I thought I was, but it was one of those moments where I got into the 'poetry zone' and words wee just freely flowing. I didn't notice the rhyme either, until I looked back on the poem. It's carzy how sometimes the best words come at 4 in the morning after a few too many glasses of wine and FAR too many kisses! Thank you for reading, darling!

I liked the part where it says Drive on, drive on,
Out into the night,
Way past early morning light.
Swerving left, right....
STOP!
Slow now, then racing.
Through the straightaway,
Carry me away!
Way past worry and thought
It kind of puts life into a way of saying that you can get over somethings and that life can make a sudden turn for the best of worst this is what I thought it sounded like. -

Flattering
I'm very happy that you got that meaning from the poem. I like to try to make my poetry so that it can mean a number of things to different readers, that way there is something for everyone. Whereas this poem is actually about a passionate night with an unexpected lover, you are also right that it is about driving on through life and taking those twists and turns, which ties right in with love and passion. You're such a smartie!
