In Praise of the Feminine Principle

      Oh womankind,
Oh cave like security for an elderly poet,
lost inside the pages of ancient musings . . .
I return to you over and over again,
listen to the echo of my heart beating,
the breath and sigh of my face,
                    docile and longing
                          for the peaceful moisture
                                  of the feminine principle.

For I have been beaten down
with phrases of social static,
            a vagrant soul
on the outskirts of burning cities,
              of volatile shadows
                  that meander back and forth
                                like an unwanted guest
                                                    before my eyes.

      Ah delicate fragrance
and naked moon of my midnight . . .
you are the sacred spring that quenches
the thirst of my nocturnal desert.
      You bless me
with the saffron dream of the Orient,
            you bear the flesh,
                the countenance of a virgin grace . . .
so mysterious and pure and chaste.
      You are the morning fruit
that my eyes feed upon,
              the yin to my yang,
the silky softness of the spirit
                        who caresses my battered soul
with the essence of the dawn.

      Oh . . . I place my lips
upon the sweet orchid of your body
and feel the waters of completion
                        flow

                                through

                                        my be-ing.

Marc, this one is truly beautiful and touching - it restores my faith in men

Sometimes, you read a poem and afterwards - although it was your intention to comment - you suddenly realize that you have been sitting, gazing at nothing in particular, thinking about the poem you just read. This is how my last five minutes have been spent!

You have captured the beauty of women in your words, and I suddenly feel amazed and blessed to be one.

    Wonderful

    Silky soft...

I'm at a loss for words at this song that would make every woman on this planet sing and dance and make her feel young again, and appreciated. I almost feel like a teenager, wanting to say "man, this is seriously cool and you have talent" but a poem of this calibre and depth needs its own special touch of praise...something higher, deeper, Marc!!

This reads like a soft sigh, a heart's smile, a body's cry and the words seem to trickle down this page and it murmurs like water.... deep into the pond of "be-ing". A beautiful, delicate flower of a poem that stirs the petals of a woman's heart. Oh, so very lovely this is - bless you for writing this!!!

Whoaaa. Exquisitely penned, dear Scribe. What a feast of senses this is, my Friend. What a beautiful, delicate tribute to your beloved. What woman would not weep to have such words whispering her name? I love it immensely. I can smell the fragrance of inspiration that led you into this immaculate forest of wildflowers. Ohhh, this is just so very lovely. Good luck in the contest, Sweetie. Wanda

While writing this, I was not only thinking of my wife, but of all the women who ever impacted my inner person. In many ways, I feel that I have been blessed by the presence of this feminine principle and it has soothed and nourished me during times of external chaos and confusion.

I understand, my Friend. As I recently said to someone, there are poems I've written that I didn't know who they were for until later. Some of mine are drawn from a lifetime of experience; others are for someone specific. It is beautiful. On behalf of all women everywhere, I thank you.

Ok, this was AMAZINGLY GOOD. This is like one of those old poems that those really famous poets write (I'm not poetically-educated, so I can't name any) that I have hardly any words to describe. You have a serious talent! This was amazing! Awesome job! I LOVED it!
