The ultimate light infantry,
hit and run, in and out,
Is the Ranger's specialty.
When they’re looking for a unit,
For a job that’s really tough,
They will call upon the Rangers,
No job ever sucks enough.
No matter what the mission,
They will engage before the rest,
Working behind enemy lines,
first as always, America's best.
Slipping in for special OPs
faces painted and Recon bound,
You'll find the Airborne Rangers,
are the first boots on the ground.
Though the OPs are always secret,
Some Rangers still have their gripes,
when other branches get front page,
of the paper, Stars and Stripes.
When things seem really hopeless,
our troops are fighting to a draw,
Count on the Rangers to break through,
Like they did at Omaha.
When there’s wire and heavy fire,
You can hear the commander say,
"We really need a miracle.
Move up! Rangers! Lead the way."
Author notes
I saw your contest and had to write something for you. Hell, I couldn't sleep anyway. Couldn't help taking a swipe at those who take weeks to mobilize and then come in with fan fare and sabre rattling, when the Rangers mobilized in hours and had the ground work done weeks before the others showed. Dedicated to all the Ranger Regiments, LRPs, LRRPs and all wearing the Ranger Tag.
