Sweet, sunny, shining days
Iced tea so cold you shiver.
Summertime's sweltering sun ablaze
And cool dips in the river.
Soft blankets and comfy shoes
Lazy nights by the fire.
Sunset's red and golden hues
Loving the one you desire.
Looking in your child's eyes
Knowing they change you forever.
Fond friendships and sorrowful goodbyes
Some things distance can't sever.
These are the things that make life worthwhile
Not found in money, wealth or fame.
Joy is the heart seed that yields a smile,
Even during the pouring rain.

Wonderful!
What a great list of things that make you happy "Not found in money, wealth or fame"! Thanks for the great poem

brillantly annouced that happiness does not come with money, fame or fortune. The three things everyone wants to pretend to be happy.

Great imagery Churt! It sounded very unlike you..I guess the tone was different than your usual poems. As I read, I kept reminding myself that you had written it. I like it. The first two stanzas are my favorite...the really took me back to when i was a kid. Good luck in the contest!!!!
