New Deal

Your oath of office, marriage vows,
the trust of others, what a louse.
You shining, clean-cut, "talk the talk",
but where do ev’ning footsteps walk?

Our dreams once hitched to self-same star,
together we had come so far;
Now blood-work, swabs for STD’s,
Our savings shot on lawyer fees.

Elective surgeries once postphoned,
But Sweetie, I’ve been on the phone;
Lorena Babbit soon will see ya,
Kevorkian has the anesthesia!

    Excellent! I really enjoyed this piece, the meter rhyme and humor. Some great lines here, loved "You shining, clean-cut, "talk the talk",
    but where do ev’ning footsteps walk?" Thanks for this entry!

  • I love this! Hilarious and very topical.
    By the way, why don't they give him just topical anesthesia, or a local that wears off a little too soon...

    Wicked me wicked me.

  • The last line is not quite right. Kevorkian has alot of syllables. Try "Kevorkian has the anesthesia." I think you will have a better flow.

    I knew this must have something to do with Gov. Spitzer, lol. Ah, I've no idea why people have to be such fools. The man had everything, and he blew it all. Ah well.

    I like the title.

    lol...started off a bit serious, and though Babbit and
    Kevorkian are very serious matters, I couldn't help but chuckle. Good luck in the contest. A great write.
