Just like the Duke you have gone a few rounds with cancer.
I truly hope you come out on the other side of it well Patrick.
I adored you in The North and The South as Orry Main.
You do remind me so much of John Wayne.
You played another role as a roadhouse dancer who got the girl in the end.
It is funny how many of those characters went on to star in other shows.
A Civil War General, a Dirty Dance teacher and a Ghost you made each role seems so effortlessly.
You will always be a quiet hero to me.
As a fellow cancer survivor my best wishes are with you and we pray for a miracle.
Nevertheless the true miracle has been just having you appear on the silver screen.
So tonight I raise my glass to you in salute Patrick Swayze.
To John Wayne and Orry Main.
Author notes
I do not know if anyone remembers the series The North and The South but it was one of the first times that we saw Patrick Swayze and then of course his incredible dancing in Dirty Dancing.
Mere man can not create what we see before us.

Yes, he was a great dancer in Dirty Dancing and has had some wonderful roles to play in other movies as well. Cancer gets so many people, does not care their age, race, creed, or stature - many succumb to this disease. Let's hope this is the exception here again. Liked the thoughts you expressed so well in these lines.
