Ash Friday

Missing image
I fight the thirst always worse with the Blood moon
Wondering whether I will survive the night in bloom
I stumble into the street, sweating, breathing hard
My eyes blurred by the torrents of rain
I can feel the lust building in my gut
I can smell the festering humans safe in their beds
Safe HUH! No one is safe from me!
I try to fight again, throwing myself against a wall,
I rip my sodden shirt from my burning skin
And scream into the night, birds erupt from the rooftops
Flying blindly into the night, I see them in the dark
I can hear their tiny hearts beating, I confuse their brains
I control their thoughts; two collide in midair and plummet
Hitting the ground just in front of me, I sink my teeth into the sweet meat

I drink
Eyes closed
Death come quick
I am not satisfied
I want more tonight
I want to hunt, I need the kill
The wondrous taste of human flesh
Female flesh tainted by sweet perfume
She must want me, not the other way around
She will love me and then I will take her and make her mine

The rain pours off of my naked chest as I roam the street
I search for her, the one in the mask, the one that will perish this night
I have seen her, watched her from afar, caught her eye once, she held my glance
Not tonight, tonight she will bleed for me, she will suffer for me, I will lift that mask
I turn a corner and spy my masked pray leaning against the wall a parasol keeping her dry
A sailor from a ship in the harbor talks with her, doing a deal no doubt
Shall I watch them, shall I let this filthy seaman sully my pray, no I think not,
I take to the air and fly the rest of the way, coming to rest on the gutter above
I listen with bat ears and understand in vampire mind, he had closed the deal
Love was to be his for fifteen Dollars; Death was to be mine for nothing.
I dropped from the roof, inverted myself and turned, coming to rest on my feet beside the masked one,
I look to her and greet, turn to him an in a single second remove the skin from his face
I leant into him and he raised his hands and stopped them, I looked in his eyes and
Licked the raw flesh, tasting the warm blood and feeling the lust reign supreme
She tried to scream but my right hand was on her mouth. I raised my left index finger
to my lips and said, “Shush, your turn soon sweet thing”.

Turning back to the sailor I brought my left hand down and across his throat killing him instantly.
He dropped to the floor his cheap vampire tattoos mocking me in the moonlight.
I turned again to the frozen mask, “Let me see you my love and you may walk free.”
She slowly lifted the white mask to reveal a sullen ashen face, looking down at her feet.
I placed a finger under her chin and lifted her head, our eyes met and she was mine, “Hello precious lady.” I said, “Move your hair from you neck and let me drink from you.”
She did as she was told, she had no choice, there is no arguing, I am Ash and she is dead.

Two corpses lay on the floor in a pool of sailor’s blood, she was sweet and I did not want to waist a drop, two corpses asleep in the night. I smile and satisfied move on.

This was a great piece of work, the imagery was done really well and the story was definately convincing. The picture put a nice touch to it also. Only one suggestion, "I did not want to waist a drop," it should be "waste" beyond that it was a great dark write. Thanks for entering.

Amazing. I don't know what else to say. If I believed in vampirism, I'd be convinced. You went into such great depth. It was just amazing. Thanks
