A penny saved is a penny earned..
The early bird and the proverbial worm…
Do unto others…is taught and learned..
Don’t play with fire..your sure to get burned…
The things we hear our parents say…
We store ..and hold em…for a rainy day…
Were sure the piper is the one we’ll pay…
If we try to remove em…
Cause they are here to stay…
No ones sure.. if they were right or wrong..
We just keep passing them …all along..
From one generation down to the next…
From one apt pupil..to one perplexed
Were in a hurry to cut to the chase..
To add our two cents worth…
In the appropriate place…
Listen fondly to the songs we try
Some old woman… swallows a fly…
Seems it was likely the song of choice…
Sung in the car in my best ..dad..voice…
Grateful the spider … stayed up the..spout…
If they are prompted at all they’ll trot it out…
Making that motion.. to hear the truckers horn..
Seems weve known …that secret signal…
Since the day we were born…
Making the church ..and seeing the steeple..
We all know where to look..to find the people…
Easier said than done.is.your latest lament…
But passing on traditions ..is time well spent…
If you remember them now…there must be a reason..
Everything in life..has its season..
Your time has come…take your place…play your role…
Let the child in you surface … to help reach your goal…
Parent often and wisely…
So when its their place…
Thinking…. who read them Seuss…
Brings a smile to their face…
Author notes
A penny saved is a penny earned..
The early bird and the proverbial worm…
Do unto others…is taught and learned..
Don’t play with fire..your sure to get burned…
