Metal euphoric
Grey concrete roads stretching in the dark,
Lampposts hissing
Light writhing in dull pools
Crescent sliver spewing silver,
Allergenic response.
Hard-sole trainers clunking in the quiet shadows
The stink of antiseptic disinfectant
ripping the inside of my nose,
My metal euphoric,
Curled up with machines
A wired ghost.
Unearthly lamplight repelled from white sheets,
Tucked in,
Tubes. A cocktail suspended in the air,
White cylindrical shapes reflected in tired eyes,
Pills to take the pain away
Fizzling through an imbalanced bloodstream,
Stable
Understanding the discrepancy of wanting to take life but not die,
My learning curve in an intravenous canular.
Fixing the body
Forgetting the mind,
My metal euphoric will find
New ways.
