The Tower of Babel

We journeyed East to Shinar,
And said
"Let us make a name for ourselves here."
out of bricks, and mortar;
Stone and tar.

The face of the Earth,
Scared us.
Vast, and wandering,
it stretched before us.
"Let us always stay in this place,
Within our confines of safe language."
We said.

Reaching the heavens
is no easy task, but we tried.
"Let us a build a tower that will reach to the heavens,
Who's tower will pride the son of men."

Pride cometh before,
The downfall.
And the Lord came down to us,
with his face, and his hand,
As he walked amongst us.
"That which you find purpose to do,
Shall never be impossible." he said,
As he conferred with those,
most high.

Thus he scrambled our language.
Tongues cut,
Blood leaking.
The earth wide and open.

Our city fell to ruination,
"Pourquoi est-on arrivé là?"
Babel sighs.
