Once I walked and did lament
These verses follow true:
Coverse'd did I with grassy knoll-
I now lay unto you:
"O! Grassy knoll
On which I stroll,
What secrets do you hold?
Was once your head
A moss-green bed
Awash with Marigolds?
Was once your wreath
Around your feet
A riot poppy-red?
O! Grassy knoll
On which I stroll
How came you to be dead?"
The grassy knoll possesed did sigh
The wind through carpet brown:
And wearily returned my call
Which wrought my heart around:
"Barefeet themselves
Swept pretty bells
Across my emerald throne.
And then one day
They ne'er played
And left me all alone"
To mournful truth
I bowed my head
Humbled, saddened
In response I said:
"O grassy knoll
On which I stroll
I know your story true.
I once did love
A man who's touch
Tore mine heart in two.
Across these fells
Swept wedding bells
But love was overthrown.
On dark cruel day
My sweet love strayed
And left me too alone."
The grassy knoll and I both dead
Sat in our heavy mood-
I curled to it like faithful pup
And ne'er again was moved.

Heh. Well now this is different.

Fantastic
This is one of the better poems I have read on this site. Your rhythm and rhyme are exquisite. Great job.

Oh I love it. It's so Alice in Wonderland!
"How doth the little crocodile
Improve his shining tail,
And pour the waters of the Nile
On every golden scale!"
