The Tooth Fairy ( Assignment)

What does she do with all the teeth that she finds?

White, tiny teeth from under the soft, feather pillow.

Where does she take them as you lie in dream sleep?

To her house by the river, in tree of puss willow.

There she polishes each one with a cloth of fine silver,

Until they glow and shine like a beam of moonlight.

Then to the fairy queen in her castle, just over the hill.

Sparkling jewels for the queen’s crown, always glowing bright.

Author notes

For this, our third assignment, you are to write a poem inspired by a picture of your choice. Please post your work in the context of this assignment along with a link to the picture you are writing about, so it must be somewhere on the net so that I can go to it. The picture and the poem need to be child oriented, of course. You can write any form, genre you wish, but for this assignment, it needs to rhyme.

You can make it anywhere from 5-20 lines, no more.

Here's what I want you to consider for this assignment:

1. For what age range is this poem intended? I think this would suit a child just starting to lose their first teeth so about 6-8 years old.
2. Is the subject of the picture AND the poem what a young child of that age is likely to find interesting, captivating?

3. Is this something you would want your child to read or have read to him/her?

4. Is the verbage made up of words which the child can understand and perhaps relate to?

You will be graded on overall presentation, punctuation (poetry requires very little punctuation, so don't overdo it), spelling, child appeal, how the picture relates to the poem.

In a list

Does the poem fulfil the assignment?
