Such a hate-filled world
caused by a fear of the “different”
so many kids kicked out of their homes
for being gay
so many people being bullied
beaten and killed
because they like someone of their sex
So many people forbidden to marry
their ‘one and only’
who says they aren’t capable of love?
The Church?
But the church also says
we shall love our neighbor
as we love ourselves
The law?
The law also says
we shall not murder
but so many people are killed
for being gay
So who then is to judge
who can be in love?
When will all the hate end?
How many more need to die
because they are “different”?
because people are scared?
Author notes
I am not gay, but several friends are. Quite a few of them have trouble with family or classmates because of it.

I agree, that hatred toward those who are gay is wrong. Always. Period. That does not mean, however, that I support the practice of homosexuality. I believe it to be a sin. But, that being said, I am a sinner as well...and none of my sins are any "better" than the one I just mentioned.
The fact that someone is gay does not change my relationship/friendship with them, for I know we are all in the same boat. Jesus came to show love by dying for us in spite of our sins..and by taking the punishment meant for us. He didn't come to proclaim us all righteous no matter what we do. Instead, he came to offer forgiveness in spite of what we do. He was known for befriending those that society rejected. Any "Christian" who does not follow His example should be ashamed. In a society so worked up about "tolerance," shouldn't two friends be able to speak their minds honestly without offending one another?
Lovely job expressing your point of view here. I can tell you have a real heart of compassion for those who are persecuted. Thanks for the entry. -
I also think it's sad that homosexual people have faced such vehemence and anger from so many people. But I think that the Bible is clear that homosexuality is wrong according to God. I also believe that God, and God alone is the only one who is fit to judge them...so my practice is to love them, even though I disagree, because you are right...it's not our place to judge. I think I can still love a person, while at the same time, gently tell them what I think of their lifestyle. It angers me too when people assume the role of judge and jury. Thanks for writing this piece and good luck in the contest!

This is a poem a lot of people can relate to. I myself know it too well but I am not gay. Oo; Lol, being in foster care, they can write it in your chart even if you're not. Some girl jumped in my bed one night and since then I had a hard time getting people to belive me, and since it was in my chart it didn't matter to them. I was teased and taughnted by every home I went to. It's terrible the way homosexuals are treated.
