Worldly Paradox

As the cascade the world embraced
As the sunlight creatures are chased
Into the burrows they call shelter
For fear of being scattered
To stormy winds far afield
Away from comfort yield
Adventure now a dirty thought
With danger and pain it is wrought
Most seek wild abandon within
The city walls of steel and sin
Few indeed who do venture
Far from the world of indenture
To the place of mystics abound
Were vibrantly to ground
Flock those whose power denied
The open use for fear of pride
Downfall by mob of rope
To swing with the wheat hope
Not to see the light of night
Ere the dark of day
Should wist away
The peaceful sight
Of rest and serenity abound
Gushing from wells around
The dream all men seek, though
Most only find false hope
Now granted those who follow blindly
Can find still through kindly
Acts of those true believe
Can wage the sin relieve
The world of her heavy burden
When evil beasts would urge on
The destruction bedecked in gold finery
Sipping the vintage of best winery
As the flames engulf the misguided flock
And death is put to all who mock
The ultimate mortal body
Whose doctrine false, dogma shoddy
Can find no resolution to the paradox
Twixt true faith and one’s gold box
That the sow’s feed so greedily
Towards damnation speeding
The haste of old renewed again
This hellish cycle ne’er end
To the end of time doomed shall be
The race now known as humanity

This sure lives up to its title. My favorite lines were -

    Most seek wild abandon within
The city walls of steel and sin

Re. the "long-winded" criticisms, I like long poems. So did Walt Whitman. Leaves of Grass takes about ten years to read. I don't understand the "too long" criticisms of poetry. Never did. Nice work. Have a good weekend.

Extremely good imagery, but as Mary said, a bit long-winded. Kudos and good luck. -Judge#2

This has a good mesage and fairly well written but it's very long winded. Over all I liked it but I lost interest a little.
    good job
    good luck
