A Difference in Time With the Same Little Rhyme

Originality!
Ah, that's the key,
To which we hold our eyes.
What, do tell me,
Do you think could be
More cleverly disguised
Than my originality?
"Hark, Hark,"
The old angels cry
"We need more silly puns!
We need consistence!
Persistence!,
And words that outsmart no one!"
But who shall answer
their desperate wails?
Who shall come
To their beckoning hails?
I do not know.
I do not care.
Where originality goes,
I shall go there.
For,
as you may see
with time,
Their plea is more suited
for those who end poems
in alike sounding words.
