A Birthday Celebration (Gold Trophy)

Missing image
Who says we have to grow old
And end up wrinkled like a prune
All we need to do is follow
In the footsteps of Celticmoon

Now I have it on good authority
That this lady’s older than we think
Perhaps her secret lies in
Imbibing in an occasional drink

Or maybe it’s the rose water
Which she splashes on her face
Or the fact that she’s twenty-nine again
In this competition, the ageless race

I don’t hear any bones creak
Or teeth falling to the floor
She must stay well oiled
Like the hinges on the door

But if someday she suddenly finds
That her youth got left behind
She’ll realize, as we do
That she’s still one of a kind

So before the fateful day that happens
And we’re all too old to care
Let’s party and make merry
As this birthday we all share

We’ll hire a male stripper
Let her have her fun, get bold
She’ll wonder why she waited
To finally get this old

What a funny poem, catz. Can you reschedule that male stripper for my birthday party??

The poem and the picture are hilarious.
I see that celticmoon hasn't seen this yet, she missed a real birthday treat... think I'll give her a little nudge

I absolutely loved this, from beginning to end I was laughing! This is a poem I definitely think my mum needs and will have her giggling away too!
I don't know what to say other than this is an absolute perfect tribute to mum and she's gonna love it.
Thankyou for sharing this special time with her!
    Goodluck!

Wow, I really hadn't expected to win in the contest, let alone Gold, but thank you !! It was a fun poem to write and for some reason it's what came to mind when I thought about Bel getting old... errr... older... err... not as young as she was this time last year young

All of the other poems are so nice and I congratulate the other winners, too.
Thanks for a pretty cool contest, Bel deserves it

Lets not mince words and get right to the point...how old is she?

Some names you see around for ages on AP. one such name is Celticmoon. I've seen that name around these parts since 1956 but to my knowledge we've never met...Yes, I know, lucky her, lol.

Anyway, I suspect I'll remedy that soon (for better or worse)

Is her name Bel? Happy birthday Bel, and aging is just a state of mind...true, the mind becomes a nest of cobwebs eventually...
