The radio’s on and I hear our song
The one you never knew
And as much as I long for the words to stop
Their meaning rings so true
And though it hurts, I cannot turn
The dial to something else
And before too long as I hear the song
I’m lost inside myself
It tells of beautiful nights spent by your side
Staying up late counting stars in the sky
Riding in your car as you hold my hand
Heading nowhere without any plans
Telling jokes just to hear me laugh
Driving out to see you on nights when I shouldn’t have
And when you were gone from home
Before you’d go to bed
You’d call me on the phone
Just to hear me again
The melody plays and recreates those days
The moments sweetly shared
And way back then it told the end
That soon we wouldn’t care
How could I not know that we’d forget
All the things that we once had
The music played and the lyrics sang
How the end would come so fast
We forgot those beautiful nights spent by your side
Staying up late counting stars in the sky
Riding in your car as you held my hand
Heading nowhere without any plans
Telling jokes just to hear me laugh
Driving out to see you on nights when I shouldn’t have
And when you were gone from home
Before you’d go to bed
You’d call me on the phone
Just to hear me again
let me know what you think

spectacular
Very well adapted, I've tried the whole "our song" approach in relationships, but I'm so darn picky none of them said what I felt. I end up writing one instead. very well done. kudos for not really using any lines from the original song.

thanks.
i think having a song is one of those things that either happens on its own or doesn't.

Wonderful write, amazing the memories one may get from a song. Many a times I put memories of people to songs and they never know. They are more special when it is a loved one that is special.
