My head stays bowed,
My chin quakes,
I long to feast upon her gaze,
My dull heart aches.
I am reticence,
I am desire.
My hopes and dreams curdle,
Swallow my yearning,
A sour taste in my mind,
Hope it's apathy I'm learning.
I am dirt,
I am filth,
My heart is choosing,
What my mind can't accept,
I'm awkward around her,
Does she know how I've wept?
I am pain,
I am Anguish.
I need to be near her,
To feel her, to touch,
Walls of society divide us,
Its expectations too much.
I am longing,
I am weakness,
Her penetrating gaze,
Seeks out my despair,
Her arms encircle me,
The world moves on, unaware.
I am a circle,
I am freedom,
I am me.
