Reasoning...
My mind surged black images
of my next slaughter.
Thoughts burned in my head as
the faint echo of silent screams intensified.
Was it just me?
Was it guilt beginning to
plague my hardened soul?
Each death....
immortalized my wave of apathy.
But this one...
Heh heh!
This one sent my eyes burning.
A lone tear to caress my cheek.
My smile...artificial,
unlike the kills of the past.
There it lingered;
it haunted me.
Just a fragment of sorrow.
This one...she was beautiful
she was...life.
As if she could be the suns light
that brings out a rainbow.
Her cold lifeless body lay at my feet.
A red rose in one hand
and in the other....
is what should have
protected her from me.
I should be the one....
the one lying cold and dead
on the pavement.
Blood escaping my body
while ice seethed in my veins
and my soul condemned to hell.
Instead, her gun that she
fixated on was her own betrayal.
As the moon reflected its
pale light upon her lifeless corpse,
the dark of the night
has called to me once more.
Cast its spell,
curses my name...
This frantic need to
once again become this monster.
This being from which
love had created
but insanity had destroyed.
It poisons my mind
and yet warms my soul with
the deepest and brightest flame.
It's a shame, there will
be none left to enjoy it.
To marvel at my accomplishments....
my masterpiece.

amazing imagery here and your ending was well worth the wait!
every word read intrigued me to read more and I found myself reading faster as I started getting into it (which was by about the 3rd word lol!)

Wowzers! This is beautifully dark. It really grips you and draws you into the story line. The imagery in this piece is outstanding, it created great visuals as I read. I have read some of the others in this set but I really should read them in order It is now on my 'to do' list. Simply breathtaking. Best of luck in the contest

Holy Crap
I fall into a masterpiece of wonder and accomplishment with a maniacal twist into it everytime i read a continuation of this story.... I love it. It draws your readers in and turns their minds inside out. The beauty of a murder....? Knowing how to make a love out of a twisted fantasy.
I love this. Thank you for sharing. (i hope all that made sense)
