Equlibrium

Above the world, embraced in heights,
sheltered on an isle of spells,
the seer peers through the haze
eyes like hawks in distant daze.

Dancing shades encircle her light
dripping from verdant elm,
tar reflections of the lands
whisper secrets on her hands.

Silver string of highest branch
crosses straight to sacred realms,
where gods and goddesses descend
with amber strands of consent.

She inhales the sweetened waves
of heartsease sprounting from beneath,
soul surrounded in velvet trance
wisdom expanding, darkening her glance.

One look is enough for her to see
the web behind the animals and trees,
pages of knowledge in breathing ink
open to the one with "x" on her palm.

However for the wisdom received
she gave her children unconceived.
To the spinning wheel of time
she offered youth, fertile waters.

Her heart encased in opal seed
belated beauty like rusting lead,
hidden from love, denied of affection,
a heart still beating, but not her own.

The seer sits on her solitary throne,
battling frigid winds on her own.
Gebo marks her being, takes her time
celtic scales drawing lines of her gain.

Author notes

Rune: Gebo
Meaning: Gift
Number: 7

Well I hope that this is as clear as possible, but well the Gebo rune is connected with giving and receiving. Basically upon receiving whatever it may be one must deserving and has to have given something in exchange before or after hand. The Seer has gained the wisdom to understand our world with the wisdom and sight of the gods, but in return she has sacrificed her youth, her happiness, denied her heart of love and joys of beinga mother, the ultimate sacrifice for a woman as she is a life bringer.

Symbols:

Heartsease: Also known as violets or wild pansies and they are connected both to thoughts and faithfulness. It's also the flower connected to the rune.

Elm: Also a symbol to the rune and well it stands for dignity. The Seer is proud and comfortable of her choice.

Thank. I myself can't imagine anything more haunting and beautiful at the same time. And this came from my fingers. Can't believe it.

This exudes colour and meaning at every turn.
Dedication is shown here to weaving knowledge
into art as you take us on a journey into areas
of esoteric shades. The verse reads almost as
a fable: melancoly and acceptance in serving a
higher cause. I am impressed with how well this
brings so much to the table considering you are
a novice to the runes and their symbology. Blue

Thank you Blue! Your comment means a lot to me in the whole symbology direction of things. I had the idea, when Hetha put some of her very useful questions when handing me my prompt and I just needed the details to make it work better. I am so happy with the result. I hope it shows to you that I still handle fantasy well.

Your footnotes and author's notes hold truth. In addition to that, The Seer or 'Seidr' also transfers the life-bringing power, she gives up in the traditional sense, in order to bring life into her gifts and her work. You did extremely well with this, and I'm glad you did so much research. You should be extremely proud of this, I am quite impressed with your work. Good luck in the judging.

Thank you for your comments and I am happy that you liked it. One of the most fun parts of writing fantasy/mythology poetry is the fact that a lot of research has to be done and that is a lot of fun, but takes up time and that is why I was that late. I wanted everything to shape and of course I am always busy with something, so it's hectic. I like your contest! Will be staying tuned for more.
