the master's words which I revere.
Nature and life his thoughts abound,
In all his works they can be found.
Resplendent is a flower's bloom,
Through him you smell the sweet perfume.
He sat upon an old gray stone,
Drinking this splendor from his throne.
And thus when his friend Matthew spake,
To him one morn by Esthwaite lake;
Reply he did of Mother Earth,
The beauty seen in spring's rebirth.
His senses taking all this in,
Would play sweet tunes on violin;
While birds around him hopped and played,
He sat reclined in grassy glade.
William dear I now thank you,
For all the beauty you imbued.
A poet's heart you shared with all,
Divine your words that still enthrall.

What a beautiful tribute. I am more than motivated to read his work. Have not done so for such a long long time. Thank you. Frans

Frans, I would liked to have up your rating here and for some reason it does not allow me to do that. Thank you for your lovely words of praise. WW is a motivator for all of us.
I'm very happy you enjoyed my tribute to him. Love and God bless you always, Joyce

This is a wonderful tribute, Joyce
on a sunny lake day or not, to join with all who admire the Bard of Nature, and sing with you. Esthwaite is truly beautiful. We noticed that the early invaders into this part of Britain ended place names with '-thwaite'.
Your English matches the period well; the cast of speech, likewise. Pretty verses all.
Lovely poem. Ron.

Ron, Thank you for the applauses and your lovely words of praise for me here. I am so sorry I just saw it. I tried to step into the character here Ron. Raspberry did say if you chose this option you best be prepared. LOL I had my Norton's Anthology of English Literature out that same day reminding me of the beauty of his words. I'm very happy that you enjoyed my tribute. Love and God bless you my friend, Joyce

You have written a wonderful tribute to Wordsworth. You have expressed his style and grace in your own lovely words. I noticed you also paid homage to Longfellow as your first two lines are reminiscent of "The Midnight Ride of Paul Revere." I always hope the impact of poetry read in high school will continue in some way throughout one's life. While sometimes seeming old-fashioned and out of touch, the words can show us the world in ways we had not imagined. Good luck in this contest. Liz

Liz, Thank you for the applauses and your lovely words of praise for my tribute sis. It was like digging for buried treasure when I pulled out that Norton's Anthology of English Literature. I heard Sr Ann's words as she quoted verbatim from it without opening it while I read from Wordsworth. I remembered how intimidating that was though it inspires me now. I had to fight to the last term of senior year to get honor roll with her. She kept me off every term till the final when she went from a C+ to a B-. She was tough and I realize why she had to be. You're so write that these are things we should long remember. And yes, Paul Revere's famous ride. I have walke part of the trail.
I'll never find myself out of touch with these parts of history as they have created memories in my life. Thank you for the good wishes also. I kind of went on about that English Class. LOL
Love and hugs, Joyce

raspberry, Thank you for the applauses and your lovely words of praise for me here. After reading your words I was inspired to write about this brilliant master. I got out my old high school book, The Norton's Anthology of English Literature and started refreshing my memory of this great man. It brought back so much to me. I'm very happy that you enjoyed this one. Love and God bless, Joyce

I enjoyed this entry so very much. The rhyming (which I enjoy immensely) is beautiful and I felt that you had really studied the poet before writing your own tribute to him.

Wow! You capture the essance of Wordsworth's poetry here in yours. And it doesn't seem strained like most do when taking on another's style. Good write, and an excellent tribute.

"Divine your words that still enthrall" such as
this wondrous lines of verse giving due credit
to a classic artist! It rhymes without a hitch...
the flow never broke for me...that matters alot.
And I feel you vividly bring his surroundings
to light. What a pleasure to enjoy while waiting
for spring. Blue

Blue, Thank you for the applauses and your lovely words of praise for my tribute to the master here. It was a pleasure to have to use my Norton's Anthology of English Literature again for him. I was reminded over and over just how much beauty he gave to us. I'm very happy that this not only flowed for you, but that it spoke to you in the way it did. I am eagerly awaiting spring. The ground is finally warming up. Love and God bless you always, in all ways. Joyce

I am pleased to see something in praise of Wordsworth. Too often people are put off poetry altogether by hearing (or worse, having to recite) "Daffodils" ineptly delivered. W W was okay in my book, and this poem is too. Good luck in the contest.

Mairi, Thank you for the applauses and your lovely words of praise for my tribute to the master. When raspberry's contest came across my notes it jumped out and grabbed me immediately. I had to go pull out my Norton's Anthology of English Literature book from high school so I could be reminded of the beauty he shared with us. Thank you for the best wishes also. Love and God bless, Joyce

There are many pieces written on this site each day that in mt own opinion do not deserve to be called poetry... BUT then there are a few and this is one of them that demand the title.
I find it a lyrical and moving tribute from one poet to another. The phrasing is fine the rhymes are good (although perhaps violin was a little forced
) and the piece as a whole flows well.
Thanks for sharing and good luck in the contest.
Jim
PS
line 7 He sat upon and old gray stone
should read AN old gray stone.

Jim, Thank you for the applause and your lovely words of praise, along with the correction there. It's funny that you found violin a little forced as I thought it went with the flow. I always appreciate an honest critiquing. Thank you for the good luck wish as well and I'm very happy that you enjoyed my tribute to the master. Love and God bless, Joyce

Wow. What a beautiful, lovely piece. The voice its in reminded me of his poetry
So you can imagine the excellent work with that...
If he was still alive today, you'd make him proud.
