I have watched you forever it seems.
The times you play, when I frolic and fly behind you.
The times you sing, and I your only listener.
The times you cry, and I catch your tears
upon my shoulder, and I whisper in your ear.
Oh, sweet innocence, I wish you knew I was here.
Though I walk you through this life we shall never meet.
I love and protect you with all I am, that's how it will always be.
So, sleep now, my little princess, and I will be here when you wake
to chase you through life, and in the end, carry you to Him.

I think the tense should be "here" and not [there]
"I wish you knew I was there.
Though I walk you through..."
Other than that...this is most beautiful! As a child I knew there were angels and faeries that kept me surrounded and away from danger. This poem makes me sure, positively. I love the fact that you took the picture prompt; brought it to life, made it speak, feel, emote... You painted a wondrous picture poet. Excellent!
Thank you for this entry in my challenge and I wish you the best.
Much Love & Respect ♥

A clever poem. It is true that in folklore some fairies are believed to be angels. Good luck in the contest.
