I had left my place of business,
I was driving slowly home
When I came up with this idea
So I unclipped the phone.
I then called my loving partner
And I said to her" My sweet
If you're not cooking dinner
Let's go out to eat."
Its not that far into the city,
We both settled in the car.
Car cooler wasn't working
And heat was melting tar.
I opened all the windows
To let some air flow through,
My partner had her hair up
And you know what wind can do.
We perspired with the windows shut
Our clothes now damp with sweat,
She turned and stated quietly
"Get takeaways, my pet"
Things Do not Always go as planned

I can picture this so easily, I'm glad you were able to have takeaways and still have a good time! Nice, easy poem.

A good time can be had in many strange circumstances, you only need good company, I had that and still do, her names is Lis. [diddi on storywrite]. Thank you for your comments.

Hi Red, this actually happened, but not quite like the poem. The paved roads were just about liquid that night. I must have been mad to suggest going out in a heatwave. We had a good time with the fish and chips from the takeaway just the same. IT was written just for a chuckle. Cheers, Bob
