Her Dance

Missing image

Tonight she'll dance for her betrothed

one she only met today after weeks spent traveling

from the only home she had ever known.

Memories still alive of the family left behind,

parting kisses and streaming tears

all relived on journey through blistering heart

and parching sands sojourned while crossing the sea of desert.

Her soul aching from the one left she thought would be her husband,

accepting fate's hand she must bear as pledged of family to end a feud,

sorrow kept being a veil, obedience to duty a love she couldn't deny.

    Excellent

This is short without wasted words, the power put forth is at the readers face. The picture and poem can stand alone, but the poem strengthens what is put on canvasas. A love turned away to meet lifes obligation to family comittment.

    one word: awesome!

i can actually picture what is going on in the woman's head and how she feel. Quite breathtaking, actually. Like the persona you left out.
