Under the golden sky of a Cyprus dawn
There came from the sea, a Goddess born
Drifting to the shore on an open shell
In human form, so the legend will tell
Waves carried her in toward the surf
While a man of the deep attended her birth
Washing her body in morning dew
A beautiful woman came into view
The pewter of the sea and the merman too
Show dark against the sky of a peachy hue
Her perfect form of pink complexion
Long golden hair of such perfection
She will be known all over the earth
The Goddess of Love will prove her worth
Aphrodite is what the Greek people claim
But she was Venus in her Roman name
