The chill of death caressed the air on an
ordinary day no different than any other.
As I road in the company van with five other
co-workers in route to our warehouse
which was about an hour away.
I sat directly in back of the designated driver
and slept until we arrived there.
We had been given a special assignment
by the plant supervisor.
It involved repairing some minor problems
with our old built-in range units.
Anyway, the warehouse forklift driver pulled
out all the units that we needed to work on.
We had a lively group which kept us entertained
as we fixed all the units.
There were additional temporary workers that
assisted us while we were there.
Around twelve noon we took lunch.
Some of us went into town and ate
while others stayed behind.
I had brought my lunch with me on
this particular day.
There was a small pond in back of the warehouse
with green grass and trees all around it.
It was a perfect day for eating outside
and I was quite content.
As I watched the turtles in the pond
swim while I ate my food.
Suddenly there was a mysterious
breeze blowing in the wind.
It drew my attention upward to the trees
where I watch them sway to the wind.
It was a mystical sight which change my mood
somewhat from content to curious.
Out of no where came a few black Ravens.
They gathered together at first and circled
around looking for food.
One of the ravens broke from the others
and came five feet from where I was sitting.
It looked me in the eyes as it stood there.
I thought it alittle peculiar but
fascinating at the same time.
After ten minutes passed and the raven
was still standing there looking at me.
I knew something was weird but I couldn't
quite put a finger on it.
The other birds had left by then
but that one raven remained.
I suddenly found myself talking to the raven.
I asked what it wanted and if it
was trying to tell me something.
The bird then turned around like
it was getting ready to fly away.
Instead it hesitated for about two minutes
as it peered deep into my eyes.
I felt a chill run down my spine remembering
the old wives tales about ravens being an omen.
The bird took off after giving me one last look
with its black glossy eyes.
I pondered the moment as I finished my lunch
until it was time to return to work.
I quickly forgot the incident after
interacting with my co-workers.
At 2:30pm we stopped for the day.
We were driven back to the plant
where we got in our cars and went home.
A note was taped on my door from
my uncle which I found hard to read.
I tried to call him but he wasn't available
at the time so I left a message.
He came over my house about 7:30 that evening
and gave me the shocking news.
My brother had been murdered by some
theives who tried to rob him.
I later found out that the murder took place
around the exact time I had lunch that day.
Even more shocking was that my other brother
later told me that he recieved a visit from
the same kind of bird.
It happened around the same exact time.
I often wonder if that was my dead brother who
visited me that day trying to prepare me for his death.

oh my gosh.
I am so sorry for your loss, but maybe that really was a sign from your brother.
this was so sad, but amazing at the same time... -
This is very interesting I believe it probably was your Brother. Raven's are omen's I believe as well. This was very long but it holds the attention of the reader well. It is wrote nicely too I did happen to see one thing though I think line 41 alittle is together I hate doing this as it is a dedication but I would want for you to help me if i did this.

Awww, baby I am sorry for your loss
even though you discussed this briefly with me a while back, still my heart goes out to you and your family. Death is something to get over and time is a healer if you allow the comfort to come in
This was erie, as Ive heard of the Ole Wives tales also about Black Ravens.
This was something...makes you wonder so many things going back to this day. It could have been, as Ive been visited in strage ways myself.
Deep and thought provoking.
Love you, and I enjoyed this pen, keep writing, as it is an escape for many things we fear or go thru in our Lives.
Much love, sweetheart and commend you for this.

This is eerie.
I firmly believe that messangers do come to us and tell us when an event such as your brothers death occur. I have had a similiar incident only not with a raven if you will. But it was to me a sign that my mother had passed away from cancer. This was a reading worth the click and more. -
I'm sorry for your loss and I firmly believe nothing in life is just coincidence. Ours is not to understand why. We must share the visions we see. Thank you for sharing this moving moment. Peace in light and love. Best wishes in life and the contest. Be well.
